Wiz Khalifa arrested in Romania for illegal drug possession

Wiz Khalifa was arrested for illegal drug possession after smoking marijuana during his performance at the Beach, Please! festival in Romania on Saturday night (July 13).

On Sunday morning (July 14), Variety reported that the rapper was taken into custody after authorities found 18 grams of marijuana on him after he smoked on stage. The Romanian prosecutor’s office released the following statement about the arrest:

“The prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Territorial Service of Constanța have ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against a defendant (US citizen) who is being investigated for the crime of illegal possession of dangerous drugs.”

The press release also states: “During a concert as part of a music festival in the resort of Costinești in Constanța County, (Khalifa) possessed over 18 grams of cannabis (risky drug) and consumed (on stage) another quantity of cannabis in the form of a self-smoked cigarette.”

The 36-year-old rap star headlined Saturday with a setlist packed with hits like “Black & Yellow,” “See You Again” and “We Dem Boys.” Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Taylor, was questioned, charged and released from custody on Sunday.

The Beach, Please! Festival took place from July 10th to 14th in Costinești, Romania. In addition to Wiz Khalifa, this year’s lineup included Travis Scott, Rick Ross, Ice Spice, Yeat, Chief Keef, Don Toliver, French Montana and many more.

Throughout his 17-year career, Wiz Khalifa’s image has been closely linked to marijuana. In January, he revealed that he had attended his son’s parent-teacher meetings while high in the past.

In other news, Wiz and his girlfriend Aimee Aguliar announced last month that they are expecting a child. He has his first child, Sebastian Taylor, with entertainer Amber Rose.

Wiz Khalifa is currently working on the sequel to his classic Kush & Orange Juice Mixtape. The album is scheduled to be released in late 2024.
