Yellow weather warning: Heavy thunderstorms in some areas on Monday afternoon

ROCHESTER, NY — Another hot and humid day is in store Monday, with an increasing risk of gusty storms throughout the day.

We have a yellow warning for areas near and east/south of Rochester for a localized strong to severe thunderstorm this afternoon. Unlike last week, we are not seeing a tornado threat, but there will be very heavy rain.

Damaging wind gusts are possible with some of these storms, especially in the Finger Lakes. The weather will calm down in the evening, but there will be a renewed risk of thunderstorms on Tuesday, and a strong storm may develop around midday.
