Woman is gang raped after being picked up outside a police station in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A woman who went to the police station to complain about her husband was raped by two unidentified men with the help of an automatic driver.

The horrific incident occurred on Friday evening in Alwal area of ​​Hyderabad.

The incident involved a 29-year-old woman from Yapral who went to Alwal police station on the evening of July 12 to file a complaint against her husband. She booked a car (AP11 TA 0266) through Uber to reach the police station. After filing her complaint, the driver of the car, who had been waiting near the station, approached her and offered her help.

The driver took a detour and stopped near a wine shop where he picked up two men who were drinking alcohol. They forced the woman to also drink alcohol. The car then drove to a deserted area in Venkatrao Lane, Alwal. There, the men threatened her, dragged her into a car and the driver of the car left the scene. The two men then raped her in the car.

At around 2:45 am on Saturday, the victim managed to escape and reached the Ganesh temple where she sought help from the locals. She called the police through the Dial 100 service and the Bollaram police responded and took her to the police station.

A Zero FIR was registered and the case was transferred to Alwal police station. The Alwal police launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the auto driver, identified as Shankar. The other two men involved are still at large.
