Tribute to Corey Comperatore, killed at Trump rally in Pennsylvania

FAMILY. FRIENDS OF THE FIREFIGHTERS AND EVEN THE GOVERNOR AND THE PRESIDENT ALL REMEMBER COREY COMPARATOR TONIGHT. COREY IS NOW A HERO FOR PROTECTING HIS FAMILY DURING THIS FIREBREAK. THAT’S SOMETHING ONE OF HIS FELLOW FIREFIGHTERS SAYS WAS COMPLETELY IN HIS CHARACTER. IT WAS NOT EVEN A SURPRISE THAT THEY WERE COMPLETE STRANGERS. HE DID THE EXACT SAME THING FOR COREY. COMPARATOR WAS A FATHER, A HUSBAND, A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER AND SOMEONE WHO EVERYONE WE TALKED TO DESCRIBED AS A REAL GOOD MAN. HE WAS A GOOD MAN. HE REALLY WAS. YOU KNOW, YOU HEAR STORIES ALL THE TIME THAT IT’S ALWAYS THE GOOD GUYS THAT GET ELIMINATED. AND UNFORTUNATELY, THAT’S WHAT HAPPENED. COREY JUST HIT 30 YEARS WITH THE BUFFALO TOWNSHIP VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. HE EVEN SERVED AS CAPTAIN OF THE DEPARTMENT FOR A FEW YEARS. IT WAS HIS DEDICATION TO HIS FAMILY THAT MADE COREY GO OUT OF THE WORLD AND CONTINUE TO BE AN ACTIVE FIREFIGHTER. IN A STATEMENT TO ACTION NEWS FOUR IN PITTSBURGH, BUFFALO TOWNSHIP SUPERVISOR RICHARD HILL SAID, QUOTE, THE BUFFALO TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IS DEEPLY SADDENED BY THE LOSS OF COREY. COMPARATOR. WE EXTEND OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE COMPARATOR FAMILY AND ALL WHO WERE AFFECTED BY SATURDAY’S VIOLENCE. COREY WAS A HUSBAND, FATHER, FRIEND AND DEDICATED COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER AND WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. COREY WILL NOW BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS WILLINGNESS TO GO THE EXTRA LARGE WAY FOR ALL AROUND HIM. HE WAS A GOOD MAN. HE WOULD LOVE TO TAKE HIS T-SHIRT OFF HIS BACK FOR ANYONE. HE HELPED US OUT WHEN I WAS VERY SICK A FEW YEARS AGO IN THE HOSPITAL AND ALMOST DIED. COREY WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE TO MESSAGE ME AND SAY, HEY MAN, HOW CAN I HELP YOU? THERE IS NOW A GOFUNDME SET UP FOR THIS FAMILY. ‘Corey was a wonderful man to know’: Loved ones remember Corey Comperatore

A companion died protecting his family from gunfire during a rally

Friends, family, a fire department and even the governor and president are remembering Corey Comperatore. He is remembered as a hero for shielding his family from gunfire at the rally for former President Donald Trump in Butler on Saturday. The action was something one of his fellow firefighters said was completely in character for him. “Oh, definitely. It wouldn’t even surprise me if it was a complete stranger if he did the exact same thing,” said Craig Cirrincione, a second lieutenant with the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department in Butler County. Comperatore was a father, a husband, a volunteer firefighter and someone everyone we spoke to described as a genuinely good man. “He was a really good guy. He really was.” “You hear stories all the time that it’s always the good guys that get cut, and unfortunately that’s what happened,” said Matthew Achilles, who lived near Comperatore. Comperatore recently celebrated 30 years with the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department, even serving as a captain for a few years. It was his dedication to his family that led Comperatore to step down and continue to be an active firefighter. In a statement to Action News 4 in Pittsburgh, Buffalo Township Superintendent Richard Hill said, “The Buffalo Township Board of Supervisors is deeply saddened by the loss of Corey Comperatore. We extend our deepest condolences to the Comperatore family and all those affected by Saturday’s violence. Corey was a dedicated husband, father, friend and community volunteer, and he will be greatly missed.” » Today, Comperatore is remembered for his willingness to go above and beyond for everyone around him. “He was a good man. He would take his shirt off for anybody,” Cirrincione said. “He helped us out when I was really sick a few years ago. I was in the hospital and almost died. Corey was one of the first people to message me and say, ‘Hey, how can I help you,’” Achilles said. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the family. As of 9:30 p.m. Sunday, it had already raised more than $730,000.
