Reporter Says Massive Atlanta Falcons-Miami Dolphins Trade Is Guaranteed (Report)

The Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins will enter the 2024 season with hopes of reaching the playoffs. The Dolphins still feel like they have one of the most electric offenses in the league. The Falcons just acquired Kirk Cousins and have plenty of weapons around him.

However, a report suggests that both teams will be active in the very near future.

According to TWSN’s Marissa Myers:

The NFL offseason brings its share of predictions and bold positions. This is especially true with trades that could take place before the start of the season or the deadline.

With that in mind, Kyle Pitts becomes an intriguing trade option, and if he is traded, it will be to the Miami Dolphins.

When he was selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, Kyle Pitts entered the NFL with high expectations after being selected in the top five by the Atlanta Falcons. Since being selected by the Falcons, he hasn’t necessarily lived up to those expectations. Over the past three seasons, Pitts has thrown for 2,049 yards and six touchdowns on 14 receptions, averaging 13.8 yards per catch. Granted, the Falcons’ run-heavy system under Arthur Smith has limited Pitts’ potential.

While that could change under Raheem Morris and Zac Robinson, if the Falcons find themselves in a situation where they aren’t meeting expectations, it would be in their best interest to acquire draft capital early in their regime to build the team they want in the best way possible.

Pitts is a great talent with elite receiving abilities that allow him to play both wideout and receiver, but he’s the Falcons’ top player who could add a lot of value. That’s where the Dolphins come in. They already have a great receiving duo in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but with Tua Tagovailoa entering a pivotal season as well as the Dolphins as a whole, they need to maximize the offense to the max.

If Hill or Waddle miss time, their receiver depth isn’t great and their tight end position needs to be improved. While Mike McDaniel didn’t necessarily use Mike Gesicki to the best of his ability in 2022, the tight end position needs to be a focal point moving forward.

The Dolphins are a contending team and if they don’t live up to expectations, they’ll have to consider making some changes. To help them on offense, they need a receiver with Pitts’ talent to be used all over the field and be another go-to option for Tagovailoa in high-pressure situations.

It would be particularly shocking to see the Falcons part ways with Pitts. He has the ability to be a centerpiece of any offense at tight end. Tight ends of that caliber don’t grow on trees.

That being said, a player of that caliber could fetch multiple top draft picks in a trade. If the Dolphins feel they are just one or two players away from becoming a Super Bowl contender, they could offer a trade package that is too good to pass up.

Regardless, Pitts’ future in Atlanta will be a story to follow in the very near future.
