Police in West Hartford arrest man in connection with Saturday’s stabbing

WEST HARTFORD – A city resident was arrested Sunday in connection with a weekend stabbing, officials said.

In a press release, West Hartford Police Lt. Ryan Riley said 33-year-old Lewis Martinez-Conde was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree menacing and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Riley said the arrest follows an incident Saturday when dispatch was called at 11:51 p.m. about a stabbing victim being transported to a local hospital in a private vehicle. He said officers went to the hospital and were able to determine the incident occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Reed Avenue.

Riley said the victim was an adult male who suffered life-threatening injuries. He said the man remains in critical condition.

Patrol officers, detectives and the Community Support Unit conducted interviews, collected evidence and identified a possible suspect, Riley said. Martinez-Conde was taken into custody without incident around 11 a.m. Sunday, he said.

Riley said Martinez-Conde was being held on $1 million bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in state Supreme Court in Hartford.

“The West Hartford Police Department would like to thank the members of the Hartford, Cromwell and East Hartford Police Departments for their assistance,” he said.
