China observes shooting involving former US President Trump

International: According to PD China News, China is closely following the shooting incident at a campaign rally of former US President Donald Trump. Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his condolences to Trump, who was injured in the shooting, according to the report by PD China News.

The incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, left former President Trump injured, one rally attendee killed and two others seriously injured. The New York Post has published images, reportedly confirmed by law enforcement sources, identifying the suspect as Thomas Matthew Crooks. Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, lived 22 miles from the rally site and graduated from high school two years ago.

According to the Pennsylvania state voter registry, Crooks is a registered Republican. In 2021, he donated $15 to a political action committee that supports left-leaning and Democratic politicians. Law enforcement officials informed the Wall Street Journal that explosives were discovered in Crooks’ car and his family home. The newspaper also reported that Crooks’ father legally purchased the AR-15 rifle used in the attack.

Local authorities are still looking for a motive for the attack, but initial details about Crooks, who was shot by police, reveal that he was a young man who had an entry-level job near his hometown in Pennsylvania, where he graduated from high school in 2022 and was considered a smart but quiet classmate.

Former President Trump arrived in New Jersey hours after the attack. The international community, including China, continues to monitor the situation closely, hoping for a speedy resolution of the investigation and increased security measures at political events.
