1 dead after vehicle leaves SR-78 and crashes into building in Oceanside – NBC 7 San Diego

One person was killed Saturday when a vehicle unexpectedly left a highway and crashed into a building in Oceanside, police said.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday morning when the driver lost control of his vehicle, left Route 78 and crashed near the 3800 block of Plaza Drive, an Oceanside Police Department spokesman told City News Service.

One person was found dead in the vehicle and another person was taken to a hospital. The condition of the surviving victim was not immediately clear, and it was unclear whether the driver or a passenger was killed.

There is a homeless camp near the crash site, but it is unclear whether anyone was injured there.

The cause of the accident was unclear.
