ISP arrests Mistress Man on suspicion of murder | News

HERRIN, Illinois – The Illinois State Police Zone 7 Criminal Investigation Division arrested a Herrin man Saturday on suspicion of first-degree murder.

According to a press release from Internet Service Provider (ISP), the investigation began on Saturday, July 13, when Herrin Police called State Police for assistance in investigating a death on Weaver Road.

According to ISP, when authorities arrived at the scene, they found a dead woman with multiple gunshot wounds. ISP believed Tyler Mezo, 38, of Herrin, was the shooter and arrested him.

After further investigation on Sunday, July 14, authorities referred the case to the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office to file formal charges. Mezo remains in the Williamson County Jail awaiting a court date.

ISP would like to thank the Herrin Police Department, ISP Troopers from Troop 10 and ISP Crime Scene Service for their assistance in the investigation.

Authorities also reminded residents that Mezo remains innocent until proven guilty in court.
