However, this year, Houston faced an unfortunate disaster when Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Sunday, causing widespread power outages throughout the city.

Earlier this week, Hurricane Beryl made landfall on the Gulf Coast, leaving a trail of destruction. Houston, no stranger to hurricanes, was once again left reeling from the extensive damage. The storm brought heavy rain, high winds, and flooding, causing massive power outages that lasted for days. Residents were left without power and had to deal with damaged infrastructure while trying to keep cool in Houston’s extreme heat.

Despite these challenges, the city found a silver lining in the gray clouds. True to Houston tradition, 713 Day continued with its many festivities. This year’s events were especially special, as the city managed to create joy and embrace its iconic history amidst the challenges. While celebrations were scaled back, outdoor events still took place in different parts of the city. Some local businesses turned the day into an act of service, helping residents impacted by the storm by organizing food and supply drives.
