The NBA suspends Patrick Beverley from the Bucks after a series of incidents

The National Basketball Association decided Thursday to suspend Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley. The NBA made this decision after Beverley was involved in a hostile encounter with fans and an inappropriate response with a reporter following the Bucks’ loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Following these incidents, the NBA suspended Beverley for four games.

The league announced Beverley’s suspension in a press release Thursday afternoon.

Marc Spears was one of those who reported on the suspension.

Admittedly, a four-game ban for these incidents feels significantly less than expected. The league definitely hasn’t been hard on Beverley, who has had a pretty rough week following the incident with an ESPN producer.

While it is true that some might argue that this has a deterrent effect, it is not a very strong deterrent. Again, just four games after an incident with a fan and a reporter, it feels very relaxed. One wonders if the NBA could have taken tougher action against him, and some out there seemed to have the same opinion.

Beverley will not serve his suspension next season as the Bucks have been eliminated from the NBA playoffs. At least he no longer has to worry about being on the bench for much of the start of the 2024-25 NBA season.
