Police responded to a hit-and-run crash around 6 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East Andrew Johnson Highway. The crash involved a pickup truck that got between a Jeep Wrangler and another SUV, damaging both vehicles.

The driver of the pickup truck then fled the scene. After investigating the accident, police met with officers for a disturbance on Bolton Road near Kingsport Highway. Four witnesses had followed the pickup truck to the scene, where officers identified Christopher Patton of Chuckey, who allegedly caused the accident.

Patton reportedly admitted to damaging the other vehicles and abandoning the vehicle. Officers conducted an investigation for driving under the influence and arrested Patton. Police issued him a summons at the detention center for failure to give due care and leaving the scene of an accident.
