Lagos police officer arrested for sexual abuse of minors

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one of its officers for the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl in Command Area H, Ogudu Local Government Area of ​​the State.

Command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin denied allegations that the police department was protecting the alleged rapist, adding that the suspect initially went into hiding after the incident but then turned himself in for investigation.

He assured the public that the incident would be handled transparently and announced that the Lagos Police Commissioner, Adegoke Fayoade, had instructed the command’s Gender Unit to investigate the case immediately.

“The case is being fully investigated. There is no plan to cover up the allegation,” he said.

The incident came to light after the victim asked the suspect for help in recovering her stolen phone, but the situation took a traumatic turn when the officer allegedly attacked her instead of helping her.
