KUWAIT CITY, July 14: The Court of Cassation has upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal to sentence an Egyptian Islamic teacher to ten years in prison with hard labor and subsequent deportation from the country. The verdict came after the teacher was found guilty of raping a child in the Khaitan area.

The criminal court had originally sentenced the teacher to death. However, the appeals court overturned this verdict and imposed a ten-year prison sentence instead. The teacher was accused of various charges in several cases, including child rape, for which he had previously been sentenced to death or prison, but also acquitted.
