Two Kurdish men arrested by Iranian authorities to serve their prison sentences

Osman Delsouz, 66, and his nephew Hazhār Delsouz (Abdul-Rahim), residents of Piranshahr, who were recently sentenced to two years in prison each by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, were arrested and transferred to Naqadeh Central Prison to serve their prison sentences.

According to a report received by the human rights organization Hengaw, 66-year-old Osman Delsouz and 30-year-old Hazhār Delsouz were arrested on Saturday, July 13, 2024, after being summoned to the Piranshahr Enforcement Directorate and transferred to Naqadeh Central Prison to serve their two-year prison sentences.

Osman Delsouz and Hazhār Delsouz, together with Akam Khezrzadeh, were sentenced to two years in prison each in a joint trial by Branch 102 of the Piranshahr Criminal Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran in May this year for “membership of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan”.

Osman Delsouz, Hazhār Delsouz and Akam Khazrzadeh were all arrested by Iranian intelligence agents on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, and were temporarily released after two months on high bail pending the end of their trial.
