Five bodies found in bus accident in Simtal, three identified

The bodies of five missing passengers and two passenger buses that were swept away by a landslide and plunged into the Trishuli river on Friday have been recovered. The identities of three bodies found in the Narayani river on Saturday have been revealed.

District Police Office spokesperson Bheshraj Rijal said the bodies identified so far include those of 22-year-old Bikas Pariyar of Chitwan Madi Municipality-1, 19-year-old Ramit Kushar Majhi of Sarlahi Barhathwa Municipality-3 and 28-year-old Rishi Pal Sah of Sitamani, Bihar, India.

It may be noted that on Friday, two passenger buses, including one from Birgunj to Kathmandu and another from Kathmandu to Gaur, collapsed in Trishuli after they got caught in a landslide at Simaltal Bharatpur Municipal Corporation-29. The two buses were carrying 27 and 24 passengers respectively.

The search for the missing bus and its passengers continues today, but so far there is no trace of the bus wreck.

Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav said a large number of security forces had been mobilised to search the accident site in Simaltal and downstream along the Narayani river.
