“World’s worst animal abuser”: Zoologist Adam Britton faces 249 years in prison for raping and killing over 40 dogs

NEW DELHI: Zoologist Adam Britton faces 249 years in prison after admitting to 60 charges, including abusing 42 dogs, 39 of which died, which he filmed and released videos of.

The crocodile expert is facing charges including eight counts of zoophilia (which carries a sentence of up to three years) and four counts of possession and distribution of child abuse images (which carries a maximum sentence of ten years). He is also charged with 37 counts of aggravated animal cruelty (each carrying a maximum sentence of five years), The Sun reported.

“I had repressed it”
In one of the posts, Britton wrote: “I had repressed it. In the last few years I’ve let it out again and now I can’t stop. I don’t want to.”

A month after the video was released, authorities raided his Darwin home and took him into custody.

They discovered over a dozen files containing child abuse material on one of his laptops.

“Rapist, torturer, murderer”: Protesters demand death penalty for Britton
Protesters stood with signs and called for the death penalty for Britton, even though the death penalty has been abolished in Australia.

“Death penalty for Adam Britton,” read one poster.

“Rapists, torturers, murderers,” read another passage.

“He needs to be punished so that people don’t think that animals are something to be exploited and abused. We know there will be no death penalty… but being imprisoned forever would be my personal choice,” said one protester.

Britton’s defense attorneys told the court that throughout the two-year period in which these serious offenses were committed, he suffered from “paraphilia,” a condition in which a person regularly experiences strong sexual fantasies involving unusual objects, places, situations or behaviors.
