Bus accident in Simaltal: 65 passengers confirmed in two buses – myRepublica

CHITWAN, July 14: It was confirmed that 65 passengers were in the two buses involved in an accident on Narayanghat-Mugling road stretch in Simaltal, Bharatpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 29, Chitwan on Friday morning.

According to the Chitwan District Administration Office, the total number of passengers was determined based on train tickets and statements from relatives who contacted the office.

The Bagmati Deluxe bus (Ba Pra-03-001 B 2495) from Kathmandu to Gaur had 38 passengers on board, while the Angel Deluxe bus (Ba Pra-03-006 B 1516) from Birgunj to Kathmandu had 27 passengers.

“27 people had bought tickets for the Ganapati bus in Gaur. Details were provided to 11 people by relatives,” said Chitwan district magistrate Indradev Yadav. He added, “23 people had booked tickets for the Angel Deluxe bus. Relatives mentioned that four people boarded without tickets.”

Nandan Das, Suraj Prasad Gupta and Jageshwar Yadav jumped out of the bus and saved their lives when it plunged into the Trishuli river. All three were travelling in the Ganpati Deluxe bus. The bodies of four persons were found; one is yet to be identified while the other three have been identified. Among the three identified bodies, one was an Indian national and two were Nepali nationals.

Following the incident, divers from the Armed Police, Nepal Army and Nepal Police are continuing to search for the buses. However, the buses have not yet been found.
