Accident: Teenager dies in car accident before starting work | News from Calcutta

Kolkata: A 23-year-old youth, a resident of North Range Road in Beniapukur, who had recently got a job in Bengaluru and was celebrating with his friends in the car, died when the sedan he was driving plunged into a canal beside Basanti Highway in the early hours of Saturday. Two of his friends, who were also in the car, narrowly missed a collision. Police said that Rayan Alam, the victim, was probably driving an SX-4 at high speed near Koyla Depot. However, Ryan failed to take the turn after which the vehicle plunged into the canal. Two of his friends in the car have been identified as Alman Khan (21) and Sayed Shaan Hossain (20). Three other friends, who were driving behind them in another car, saw Alam’s car fall into the canal and immediately launched a rescue operation. The three friends managed to rescue their friends and took them to CNMC Hospital, where Alam was declared dead. He drowned and sustained serious injuries, an official said. Alam was about to leave for Bengaluru. “He decided to meet his friends and have a party before going to work. All of them are from upper middle class backgrounds,” the police said. Alam’s family claimed that he was not able to drive. “We are waiting for a post-mortem report. We do not suspect any foul play,” said DC (East), Asif Bilal. A case of death due to negligence has been registered under the BNS Act at Anandapur PS.
