Trichy: A four-year-old doe died in a road accident in Kallagam in Trichy district on Saturday. An unidentified vehicle hit the doe when it was trying to cross the Trichy-Chidambaram National Highway near Kallagam Andiyodai. The doe was believed to have set out in search of drinking water from a nearby lake in Kallagam. She sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. On receiving the information, forest officials from Trichy district accompanied by veterinarians rushed to the accident site. They recovered the doe’s body and buried it after conducting a post-mortem. tnn
