Weather agency warning day for Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16

ROANOKE, Virginia. – Monday and Tuesday of this week are a weather warning day due to dangerous and extreme heat.

Monday

Peak heat index temperatures on Monday will be anywhere between 90 and 105 degrees, with some locations potentially hotter.

There is a high risk of heat on Monday. Those who work long hours outside need to be careful, as should anyone with health concerns.

Tuesday

Tuesday will be similar, with temperatures ranging between 95 and 97 degrees Fahrenheit, and in some areas even exceeding 86 degrees. The heat index (feels like temperature) will be around 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the districts east of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the heat risk is extreme in some remote areas of the region. The risk remains for people who work long hours outdoors and for people with health conditions.

The next few days

Humidity will increase over the next few days, which will only make things worse and intensify the already sweltering temperatures.

Remember that heat is the leading cause of weather-related deaths. It can surprise anyone and severely affect those who are particularly vulnerable. When extreme heat strikes, be sure to remember these important things:
