BREAKING NEWS: Trump injured in shooting at campaign rally in Pennsylvania | National

(Center Square) – Bloodied former President Donald Trump raised his fist in the air to show his supporters that he appeared to have only been injured at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee in November was speaking at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when reporters there said they heard “popping noises” and saw Trump touch his right ear. Campaign security immediately surrounded Trump and lowered him to the podium floor.

As Trump slowly stood up, police stormed the stage and the crowd could see blood pouring from his right ear.

As he was led off the stage, Trump began to silently shout and gesticulate toward the crowd.

Secret Service members protecting Trump could be seen shouting “the shooter is down,” indicating that the person who shot Trump was no longer a threat.

The Trump campaign said the former president was being treated at a local hospital but was doing well. A Washington Post reporter said “Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told me Trump was grazed by gunfire but was safe. One bystander was killed and the shooter is dead. Another person is in serious condition, the prosecutor said.”

“The former president is safe,” the Secret Service said in a statement.

The campaign videos do not indicate that anyone else was injured.

The attack occurred just two days before the start of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where Republican delegates will officially nominate Trump as their presidential candidate to face President Joe Biden in November.

This is an evolving story.
