Arrests made in connection with Darlington family shooting; investigation ongoing

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WPDE) — One person was arrested in connection with a domestic shooting in Darlington on Friday.

According to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a residence on Old Mill Pond Road where an apparent altercation had occurred between family members, during which a family member was shot in the head.

Following an investigation, William McKenzie Sheffield was arrested and charged with attempted murder and several other crimes.

Kathy Elaine Sheffield was also arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.

The case remains under investigation and further charges may follow.

The condition of the person shot was not disclosed.
