Man in hospital after knife attack in San Diego

A 65-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday after being stabbed with an ice pick by an unknown assailant in San Diego.

San Diego Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Kettner Boulevard around 10:42 p.m. Friday, where they learned the attacker had stabbed the victim in the stomach during a verbal altercation, Officer Jose Perales said.

The victim was taken to a hospital where it was determined that his injuries were not life-threatening, Perales said.

The suspect fled the scene. He was described as 30-45 years old, 1.73 m tall, slim, with brown hair and blue eyes. Witnesses said he was wearing a black and gray checked jacket and dark pants.
