TO UPDATE: The Fisher Fire is currently 8,043 acres. Operations on Friday were similar to previous efforts to hold hand lines established in other shifts and advance along 549 Road. The plan to control the area affected by previous erosion is still in place and has been the focus of operations. Given the increasing rate of containment, the local Ranger District and team have agreed to turn over operations command and management back to the Forest Service. This transition will occur Monday morning, with many team members being pulled out Sunday evening. Remaining operations will consist of holding, lingering and monitoring the established containment lines and ensuring containment of the remaining edges.

The temporary flight restriction (TFR) will remain in effect until Sunday evening to ensure the availability of airspace should medical or operational flights be required.

Message from the ABQ Zone Operations Manager: On behalf of myself and my Albuquerque Zone response team, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who has been interested in our coordinated response with the Magdalena Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest. We have successfully implemented a mixed tactics strategy to protect private property, recreation areas, infrastructure, natural and cultural resources, and other assets at risk. We have made risk-informed decisions and made firefighter safety our highest priority. Success is defined as safely achieving objectives with the least amount of stress on firefighters while building stakeholder support and upholding core values of duty, respect, and integrity, and we believe we accomplished this on the Fisher Fire. –Lino Baca

Weather: Sunny, with a high around 90. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, becoming southeast in the afternoon. Humidity 22%. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
