“The String Cheese Incident” reinterprets the Beatles classic with Les Claypool, on this day in 2001 (Listen)

Throughout the band’s historic career The cream cheese incident has always valued working with a wide range of artists. The Colorado-born Grasstronic Jam Band has played with everyone from Mrs Lauryn Hill And The Doobie BrothersTo Peter Rowan And David Grismanwhile constantly pushing the boundaries of his musical influences. It’s no surprise that this trend dates back to the band’s heyday, particularly during a memorable performance on this day in 2001.

During a show on July 13 at Rivers Edge Park in Somerset, WI, String Cheese Incident treated its fans to a variety of special guests, including Big Wu guitarist Chris Castino during “Sing A New Song”, saxophonist Skerik on “Jellyfish” > “Impressions”, and the renowned Primus Bassist Les Claypool on an evil version of The Beatles“Taxman” with a few echoes of Primus’ own “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver”. Listeners beware: This is a version of the Beatles classic like never before.
