Accident involving two vehicles claims one life

DELMAR, Delaware – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that left one man dead and others injured Friday evening.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., a 1996 Subaru Outback was traveling south on Providence Church Road. The Subaru failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Providence Church Road and Delmar Road and entered the westbound lane of Delmar Road.

The Subaru was then struck by a 2017 Nissan Rogue traveling west on Delmar Road.

The driver of the Subaru, a 48-year-old man from Salisbury, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased will be kept secret until family and relatives have been notified.

The driver of the Nissan was a 40-year-old woman from Laurel who had three children as passengers. The driver and passengers of the Nissan suffered minor injuries.

The intersection was closed for about three hours while investigators examined the scene of the accident.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the incident.
