Buffalo Sabres 2024/25 schedule breakdown: December

After November, the Buffalo Sabres will turn the page to the final month of 2024. To begin December, the Sabres will play five home games. First, Casey Mittelstadt will return to Buffalo as the Colorado Avalanche travel to KeyBank Center. Mittelstadt will be back in Buffalo for the first time since being traded before the trade deadline last year.

The Winnipeg Jets travel to Buffalo two days later. After Winnipeg, the Sabres will host the Utah Hockey Club for the first time in their history on a Saturday matinee. Then it’s the turn of the Detroit Red Wings, with Detroit native Patrick Kane in town before the Sabres close out their home series against the New York Rangers.

The following week will be division week. Washington was the first of a three-game road trip, while the team will visit their rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the following night. To finish the trip, Buffalo will be in Montreal.

The Sabres will once again play a back-to-back. They will host the Maple Leafs before heading to Boston for their game of the year against the Bruins. The blue and gold will finish the 2024 season with four games, including three away games.

Before the Christmas break, Buffalo will face the New York Islanders. Their final home game of 2024 will be four days later, against the Chicago Blackhawks. For the final two games, the blue and gold will face the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars on the road.

Buffalo has 14 games in December against tough teams. I’m really looking forward to Mittelstadt coming back as well as two games against Toronto in five days.
