Two people arrested in connection with investigation into attempted armed robbery | News

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri – Police in Cape Girardeau have arrested two men in connection with an alleged robbery.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department said its officers responded to a 911 call about a suspicious person around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12. When officers arrived at the scene in the 3400 block of William, they found an unconscious white male who reportedly had an AK47 strapped to his chest and a ski mask on his head.

Officers said they quickly handcuffed the suspect and took the gun from him. In a press release, police identified the suspect as Scott Taylor II, 19, of Jackson, Missouri. The press release also said the gun contained 30 loaded rounds. Medics were called to the scene to examine Taylor and transport him to a local hospital. Police say Taylor appears to have overdosed, but the substance is still unknown.

According to the police report, the person who initially reported the situation described a black Dodge Challenger fleeing the scene when police arrived. Police investigated and reported that Taylor had a Challenger registered in his name. Investigators said they found the car in the 100 block of Siemers Drive, driven by Jude Jaco, 19, of Jackson, MO.

According to police information, officers approached Jaco and noticed he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, police noticed a Glock 23 semi-automatic pistol on the ground near Jaco’s feet. Officers quickly took the weapon and say it contained 11 loaded rounds. Police say they found additional rounds and multiple magazines for the AK47 rifle and Glock pistol throughout the car.

According to police, the Cape Girardeau County District Attorney’s Office has filed the following formal charges against Taylor:

  • Robbery, Class B Felony
  • Armed criminal act, serious crime
  • Unlawful use of a weapon, Class B felony
  • Assault, 4th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

According to police, the Jaco Public Prosecutor’s Office has also filed the following charges:

  • Robbery, Class B Felony
  • Armed criminal act, serious crime
  • Unlawful use of a weapon, Class B felony
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol, Class B misdemeanor

According to police, the two men are being held without bail.
