Man dies after 18-wheeler rear-ends on I-20 in McDuffie Co.

MCDUFFIE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – A man has died after a crash on I-20.

According to authorities, the crash call came in at 12:19 p.m. Thursday afternoon on I-20 at mile marker 173 in McDuffie County.

According to the McDuffie County Coroner’s Office, Mark Delafchell, 53, of Athens, was driving and struck the rear of an 18-wheeler that was slowing for traffic.

According to authorities, Delafchell was taken to Doctors Hospital Trauma, where he later died at 1:39 p.m

The McDuffie County Coroner and the Georgia State Patrol are investigating.
