Arrest in connection with the brutal sexual assault of a disabled woman in Mesquite in 2014

MESQUITE – This week, police announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a brutal 2014 case in which a disabled woman was sexually assaulted and beaten, leaving her unconscious with severe injuries to her head and face.

Officers arrested Jorge Post, 27, of Dallas, and charged him with aggravated sexual assault of a disabled person, a first-degree felony, Mesquite police said in a news release.

Post was 17 years old when the crime occurred on Sept. 2, 2014, police said.

The woman was found lying next to a home at 3500 Moon Drive. At the time, investigators used a sex offender kit and were able to create a male DNA profile, but when the information was entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), there was no match. Attempts to identify a suspect through interviews and neighborhood surveys were also unsuccessful, police said.

Police attribute the recent identification of Post as a suspect to “the tireless efforts of the lead investigator of the Mesquite Police Department and the invaluable assistance of the FBI Dallas Field Office.”

“We hope this arrest provides the victim with some relief from the traumatic event he has endured,” the Mesquite Police Department said in a press release.
