Los Angeles County authorities investigate after “physical altercation” that left man dead

A man was killed in a “physical altercation” between two groups of people in Los Angeles County on Friday evening, authorities said.

A press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department states that officers responded to the 5800 block of Loveland Street in Bell Gardens around 7:45 p.m. on a report of a fight.


When officers arrived on scene, they found an unconscious man, the LASD said. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Investigators determined that a physical altercation had occurred between two groups of people when the man was found unconscious on the ground,” the sheriff’s office confirmed.

The exact cause of death has yet to be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

No identifying information about the deceased man has been released.
