Man arrested after fatal shooting in Covington Township

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Covington police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting Friday night.

Officers responded to a home in the 8000 block of Lakeview Drive around 6:55 p.m. When they arrived, they found the victim’s body inside a building on the property.

According to investigators, the suspect, Wayne Eaton, was still at the scene and was arrested.

Eaton has been charged with murder, police said. He is currently being held in the Newton County Jail.

The victim was identified as Troy Eaton.

Police did not provide any information about the relationship between the two or what led to the shooting.
