Man dies, 11-year-old boy in critical condition after overnight crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive – Chicago Tribune

A driver was pronounced dead and his 11-year-old passenger was seriously injured in a car crash overnight on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in the Bronzeville neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Just before 3:30 a.m., the driver was in the 4600 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive when he last lost control of his vehicle after a tire blew and he crashed into a tree, police said.

The driver suffered numerous injuries in the crash and was taken to UChicago Medicine in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead. An 11-year-old passenger suffered blunt force trauma to the head and body and was taken to the same hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police said.

The Major Accident Investigation Department was on site and investigated the accident.
