Family targeted in armed robbery in Houston area |

SUGAR LAND, Texas — A family was targeted in an armed robbery after being followed from a Houston bank to their Sugar Land home Wednesday night.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on July 10, 2024, when the family arrived at their residence in the 2100 block of Hill Canyon Ct. They were approached by armed suspects in their driveway, according to a news release from the Sugar Land Police Department. A neighbor nearby intervened, resulting in gunfire. The neighbor was shot in the leg but is expected to make a full recovery. The family is uninjured but shaken by the event.

Sugar Land detectives used license plate recognition cameras and home surveillance video to locate the vehicle suspected of fleeing the scene. Shortly after the robbery, Charles Michael Bille was arrested by the Sugar Land Police Department and the East Fort Bend County SWAT team. Bille is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault, crimes that carry up to 20 years in prison.

The investigation continues as detectives work to identify other potential suspects involved in the robbery. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Fort Bend Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.

The Sugar Land Police Department also issued a reminder to residents to remain vigilant, especially when visiting financial institutions. They advise against carrying cash or envelopes in a visible manner and recommend calling 911 if someone appears to be following you.
