El Paso police investigate body on Transmountain Road

El Paso Police Detectives are investigating a death after a body was found in the Franklin Mountains off Transmountain Road Thursday night, police said.

A recovery operation is underway after police received an emergency call about the discovery of a body at around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, a police spokesman said.

A police search and rescue team was on scene near the Ron Coleman Hiking Trail on Transmountain Road. The investigation is being conducted by the Crimes Against Persons Unit.

The Ron Coleman Trail is a well-known and challenging hiking trail along the ridge from McKelligon Canyon to the Transmountain Road.
