Police and FBI in Mesquite: Man severely beat and sexually abused blind woman 10 years ago | North Texas

MESQUITE, Texas — Nearly a decade after a brutal attack, Mesquite police have arrested a suspect in connection with a 2014 aggravated sexual assault case.

On September 2, 2014, police officers were called to the 3500 block of Moon Drive where a female victim was found unconscious and severely beaten. The victim, a disabled person, had also been sexually assaulted, according to a Mesquite Police Department news release.

A sex crimes kit was completed and a male DNA profile entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), but initially yielded no matches. Despite extensive questioning and numerous interviews, investigators were unable to identify a suspect at the time.

The case remained a priority and thanks to the persistent efforts of the lead investigator and the FBI Dallas Field Office, extensive DNA testing recently identified a suspect. On July 10, 2024, 27-year-old Jorge Post of Dallas, Texas was arrested for this crime. Post was 17 years old at the time of the crime.

Post is currently in custody and is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a disabled person, a first-degree felony.

“We hope this arrest provides the victim with some relief from the traumatic experience she has endured,” Mesquite police said. The police department also thanked the FBI’s Dallas office for its cooperation in seeking justice for the victim.
