Father dies, son hospitalized after drowning accident at Wildcat Lake

A drowning accident at Wildcat Lake on Thursday left an adult man dead and his 10-year-old son hospitalized.

According to Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue, the incident occurred on July 11 at around 6:40 p.m.

Initial reports from the scene were chaotic, with unconfirmed information suggesting that either a child or the child’s father was underwater near the boat ramp, possibly under lily pads.

Emergency responders were faced with conflicting reports about the exact location. Some said it was Wildcat Lake Park, others said it was the area around the boat ramp.

When they arrived, Engine 56 confirmed the incident at the boat ramp, where CPR was performed on the man.

Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the man was taken to Saint Michael Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The man’s ten-year-old son, who was also involved in the near-drowning accident, was taken to hospital for treatment.
