1 dead in fatal accident on Holly Road and Carroll Lane

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A driver was killed at the intersection of Holly Road and Carroll Lane after a collision with another truck, according to CCPD Lt. Michael Pena.

Pena said police were called to the scene of the accident at 8:54 p.m. Friday.

He said a driver of a black truck was traveling eastbound on Holly Road and a driver of a silver truck was traveling southbound on Carroll Lane when the driver of the black truck failed to stop at the red light. The trucks collided, with the black truck crashing into the fence of a nearby home and the silver truck crashing into the light.

Pena said the driver of the black truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the silver truck was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He said the crime scene should be cleared within a few hours.

“It won’t be a night shift. We have to do our investigation at the scene of the accident, but I would say everything should be cleared up in a few hours,” Pena said.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
