Woman dies after collision with fence and power pole in Woodstock

A Connecticut woman was killed in a car crash in Woodstock Friday morning after she crashed into a fence and a power pole, state police said.

According to Connecticut State Police, a Toyota Camry was traveling north on Roseland Park Road in Woodstock, about 1/10 of a mile south of Arvidson Road, around 10:14 a.m. Friday when it veered off the road to the right.

State police said the Toyota struck a wooden fence and continued north before hitting a utility pole on the north side. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment and eventually came to a stop against a tree, state police said.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Elise Ortiz of Willimantic, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Heather Dowling of Day Kimball Hospital, state police said.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Troop D in Danielson at 860-779-4900.
