Nearly $5 million for clean water and police departments in Westchester

New efforts are being made in Westchester to keep residents – and their running water – safe.

Hudson Valley Representative Mike Lawler announced Friday that nearly $5 million in funding will go to local police departments and drinking water initiatives.

Of that nearly $5 million, $2 million will go toward curbing synthetic chemicals in Somers’ drinking water.

Over $800,000 will be allocated to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, $1 million will go toward a new central sewer system in Cortlandt, and another $1 million will go toward replacing major water mains in Ossining.

“These were critical infrastructure projects and police communications projects that are vital to our communities,” Lawler said. “It helps offset the costs that property taxpayers would have to pay for these projects.”
