Buffalo PAL Receives New Funding to Help Middle and High School Students

Five Star Bank presented Buffalo PAL with a check for $5,000. The money will go toward PAL’s free Youth Opportunity Connect program.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Police Athletic League has new funding to help middle and high school students reach their full potential.

On Friday afternoon, Five Star Bank presented PAL with a check for $5,000. The money will go toward PAL’s free Youth Opportunity Connect program, where participants participate in educational programs, resume-building workshops, school field trips and more.

“This contribution is huge for this program,” said Nekia Kemp, executive director of Buffalo PAL. “Most funding sources fund students in kindergarten through sixth grade. It’s rare that there is funding to fund students in grades seven through 11, and we really want to support our youth, especially those who are transitioning to high school or preparing to go to college.”

The activities aim to help participants explore possible careers and improve their communication skills.
