18 arrested on drug charges in Buchanan County | WJHL

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) – Eighteen people were arrested following an operation in Buchanan County to combat drug distribution.

A news release from Buchanan County Commonwealth’s Attorney Nikki Stiltner said the operation was a joint effort between Stiltner’s office, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies.


In total, 18 of the 38 targets were arrested. Law enforcement also submitted 82 of 137 indictments returned by a grand jury.

“This should send a clear message to anyone who seeks to poison our community with drugs: We will pursue you relentlessly and ensure that justice is served,” Stiltner said in a statement. “We stand with our law enforcement partners to eradicate drug trafficking in Buchanan County and will not rest until every corner is freed from its destructive influence.”

“This operation demonstrates the powerful impact we can make by working together,” Buchanan County Sheriff Allen Boyd said in the news release. “We are committed to our mission of rooting out those who threaten the safety of our community through drug-related crime. We will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of those who endanger the lives and well-being of our citizens.”
