Man found guilty of sexually abusing CCSU student in dormitory

A Connecticut man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a Central Connecticut State University student in a campus dormitory in 2020.

A New Britain Superior Court jury found Cole Szegda, 22, of Columbia, guilty of first-degree sexual assault, according to a statement from New Britain District Attorney Christian M. Watson.

Court records show that Szegda sexually assaulted the victim, a Central Connecticut State University student, in a campus dormitory on October 23, 2020.

Judge Carl E. Taylor, who presided over the trial, scheduled Szegda’s sentencing for August 29 in New Britain Superior Court.

“Prosecutor Watson and Assistant Prosecutor (Sara) Greene would like to express their gratitude to the Central Connecticut State University Police Department for their investigative efforts in this case,” the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice said Friday.
