DC mother arrested in connection with death of her 5-month-old son

WASHINGTON – A mother was arrested this week on murder charges in connection with the 2023 death of a five-month-old boy, Washington, D.C. police said Friday.

On February 11, 2023, officers responded to a report of an unconscious infant in the 4000 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest in the Cathedral Heights area.

Police officers, firefighters and emergency services rushed to help. The infant was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, but later died on February 18, 2023.

The boy was identified as 5-month-old Kenneth Geo Walton of Northwest, DC.

Since then, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia has conducted an autopsy to determine what happened. The report concluded that Kenneth’s death was caused by complications from blunt force trauma and that the cause of death was ruled a homicide.

On Thursday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Christen Borden, 35, of Northwest, DC, on a warrant in hand. Borden is Kenneth’s mother.

Borden was taken to the homicide unit, where she was charged with first-degree murder.
