Lincoln Police Identify Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 77 Crash

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Lincoln Police have identified the motorcyclist who died in a crash on Highway 77 on Thursday.

The accident report states that 48-year-old Robert Finley of Lincoln died in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Highway 77 and Pioneers Boulevard.

Shortly before 6:20 p.m., emergency services were called to the scene of the accident. They found that a Nissan Altima (model year 2013) and a Kawasaki ZX1000-E motorcycle (model year 2008) had collided at the intersection.

The investigation revealed that the driver of the Altima, a 67-year-old man from Lincoln, was traveling south and was attempting to turn east onto Pioneers Boulevard.

Police wrote that the driver did not notice Finley because of the position of the sun on the northbound lane and ended up in front of Finley’s motorcycle, causing the collision.

Bystanders performed CPR on Finley until emergency services arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 6:40 p.m. The driver of the Altima suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

No tickets were issued for the accident and the report states that the Altima was a total loss as a result of the accident.
