Man convicted of rapes in San Jose and San Ramon

MARTINEZ – Two years after being indicted, a Mountain House man was convicted of raping women in Santa Clara and Contra Costa counties, court records show.

Qais Faizi, 35, was convicted this week of raping a woman at a party in San Ramon in 2021. Last October, he was convicted in connection with the gang rape of a woman in San Jose in 2017 and sentenced to nine years in prison, court records show.

Faizi was charged in connection with both incidents two years ago after the victim in San Ramon came forward to police. She told authorities Faizi sexually assaulted her at a party after she was drunk. In court, he argued the sex was consensual.

Faizi has not yet been convicted in the Contra Costa case and remains behind bars in the county jail.
