Blaire woman dies crossing intersection near shopping center

BLAINE, Minnesota – A woman died after she was struck by an SUV while crossing a busy intersection in Blaine, according to officials.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of University Avenue Northeast and 85th Avenue.

The driver of an SUV was traveling south on University Avenue NE when he struck a 47-year-old woman crossing the intersection on foot. According to accident documents, the driver had a green light.

Officials said life-saving measures were taken, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
