About two months after a shooting outside Mount Horeb Middle School, the Wisconsin Department of Justice has turned over a “large majority” of its investigative files to the Dane County Attorney’s Office for review. According to the Justice Department, the attorney’s office has requested more records, which the Justice Department is working to turn over. The Justice Department says the investigation should be completed “soon.” On May 1, police shot and killed an armed student who allegedly tried to get into the middle school. The student was unable to get in. Police later learned the student was carrying a pellet gun. The name of the Mount Horeb police officer who fired the shooting has not been released.
