Resident killed in house fire, firefighters and officers injured – NBC10 Philadelphia

One person has died after a fire destroyed a home in southern New Jersey Thursday afternoon, according to officials in Camden County.

Police were first called to the scene in the 400 block of Cooper Folly Road in Atco in Waterford Township just before 1:30 p.m., where five officers immediately attempted to rescue a victim inside the home, officials said.

Officials say the victim ultimately died from his injuries. A second victim in the home was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The five officers were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were each treated for smoke inhalation, police said. Two were then taken to Temple Hospital for further treatment.

According to officials, the fire department was able to bring the fire under control shortly before 2 p.m.

Officials said two firefighters were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
